Since I’ve basically given up on house hunting (we’re looking a co-op in Lefferts Gardens Sunday. Sigh.) I’ve taken to fantasy shopping on Craigs List. Seriously.

For instance, I have nowhere to put a cast iron claw foot tub:

Gorgeous Turkish tiles:

If you need more tiles and don’t care a whit what they look like, there’s this listing for tiles, too:

If you want more Turkish things, it is worth asking whether this is still around:

Though if I do wind up in a coop I might have a use for rugs …

  1. Great tiles and a really good deal. Hmmm. I had wanted to do something with Turkish tiles in our house. My fantasy someday, but it would have to be in a different future house, is a powder room entirely covered on every surface with Turkish tiles so it looks like a Topkapi Palace harem bathroom.

Yeah you’d have to get rugs with pads in a coop but it’s a good rule; I wish it was required for houses too! Our neighbors on both sides have no throw rugs and we get so much more noise from them than they get from us. We can have a big party and they’ll say they hardly heard anything whereas we hear their TV or stereo like it’s in the next room inside our house. We don’t even have that many rugs either. It doesn’t take a ton to make a difference.
