I’m interested in insulating the crawl space below the roof in order to stop the top floor of my brownstone from being several degrees colder than the rest of the place. There are currently air conditioning ducts in this space so I’m not considering any kind of blown in insulation which I believe will block my access to the vents in case they need servicing. Does anyone know of a firm that can install rolls of insulation? I really don’t want to do it myself.

  1. I’d look into using rolls of recycled blue jeans–so much better for the environment, totally fireproof (they add a nontoxic fire-proofing material), less nasty to touch than itchy fiberglass. It comes in rolls of various thicknesses and has a better R value than fiberglass. It’s made by a company called Bonded Logic.
