white or bronze windows?
Along with having the ugly 1950s flagstone facade taken off my house and the brick repaired and repointed, I am going to install replacement windows on all three floors. Currently the windows are white, some wood and some vinyl. The replacements would be metal and wood. But what color windows should I get? The downstairs…
Along with having the ugly 1950s flagstone facade taken off my house and the brick repaired and repointed, I am going to install replacement windows on all three floors. Currently the windows are white, some wood and some vinyl. The replacements would be metal and wood. But what color windows should I get?
The downstairs windows will be set in a stuccoed section of the house; the other two floors in brick. I like bronze-color (black is 2 x expensive so not being considered) for brownstone buildings, but white looks good with brick.
Also, the window color will be the same on the inside and the outside. Would bronze windows look funny against the white painted window casing inside?

You’re saying the replacement windows will be metal and wood…do you mean metal clad on the outside and wood on the inside?
If so, perhaps you have the option of ordering the windows with the inside primed ONLY, and then you can paint whatever color you’d like?
Definitely bronze. IMO.
If you’re in a landmark area you might want to check. A neighbor of mine put in white & had to have them redone.
Generally speaking, I think the bronze looks better. It doesnt stand out as much as the bright white and since vinyl isnt something you want to highlight, its better they don’t stand out.
In my experience, dark colored window frames make a window look smaller — when you’re standing inside the room. Not from outside. White is definitely better inside.
