we’re about to move to brooklyn heights and as part of leaving manhattan we are contemplating buying a car……

where is everyone parking in brooklyn heights, there seems to be absolutely zero free parking spaces- heck it seems to be easier to park in manhattan than brooklyn heights.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Dean

  1. yeh I’m near ‘the tall apartment building one’ on Henry.

haven’t researched how much it is yet, but yes twice when i’ve parked in their wih out people seemed crazy full.

just wndering what people are doing about this.

  2. If you’re in the southern heights (near joralemon) and don’t use your car that often, I’d suggest checking out the garage in One Brooklyn Bridge Park on Furman just southe of Joralemon. The garage just opened up for business. I don’t know what their rates are. If you are further from the waterfront, try the Garage at CourtHouse apartments at Court and Atlantic. If you’re in the North Heights, there’s a garage under the tall apartment buildings on Henry, near the fruit names streets, although I think that garage might be full all the time. Those are basically your options – not alot of garages in the neighborhood.

  3. Parking is terrible. And if you happen to be on a street where you only have to move your car twice a week it is even worse because everyone comes to your block to leave their car.

Parking lots can be had for about $200/month.

But bikes and scooters are really the way to go. Everything is so close it makes a lot of sense to go without a car if you can swing it.

  4. Get a space in a garage, unless you have a lot time to devote to securing a legal spot and not moving from it. On street parking in limited. Traffic Enforcement Agents are numerous. Towing is also done frequently. BH is a busy place juxtaposed to some other even busier places, with people using those limited parking spaces to gain access to them.
