bought a granite countertop from Lee stone supply at 66 cherry street in brooklyn, countertop came attached to a plyboard. We weren’t aware that plywood had to be placed under granite, upon removing the countertop to place board under the granite broke right at sink hole. I need help with fixing it since I can’t afford a new one. Granite was 3/4 inch thick, I admit that i wasn’t knowledgable about granite and though I feel like lee was wrong for not telling me about placement I can’t get my money back since it broke in my possession. Is there anyway or anyplace to repair this countertop. Please help. Thank you

We had our granite countertop installed about 6 years ago and we don’t have any complaints. The recent news about possible radon does cause a little concern and the granite wasn’t cheap. If I was doing it over, I might consider other options. I ran across this site when looking for info on radon, pricing, and cleaning of granite. Good info for anyone who owns or is considering a granite countertop. http://www.bestkitchencountertops.com/granite-countertops/
Contact the distributor of the granite. They should be able to recommend an epoxy to repair the counter as good as new without creating a stain along the crack. Regularly clean and seal the surface and it’ll look fine.
The plywood was only there for shipping puposes, especially since it was only 3/4″ thick and not 1 1/4″ You can certainly epoxy the joint and it will be stronger than new. There are various fillers out there that can be tinted to repair anything more conspicuous than a crack.
