Tile shops in Brooklyn
I’ve been shopping around for bathroom tiles and came across Bergen Tiles (on the corner of Flatbush Ave & Dean St). Anyone have any experience or comments on Bergen Tiles? How do their prices compare to other shops? Also, any other recommendations for a tile shop (I’m trying to avoid Home Depot and Lowes). Thanks.

Another vote for Classic Tile. We bought our blue glass subway tile for our kitchen backsplash there and had a very positive experience.
For our bathroom tile we bought from Cancos on W. 21st St in Manhattan, however, and also had a great experience.

As a tile contractor, I would never say anything bad about a tile dealer, but isn’t Bergen Tile closed?
In Brooklyn, I use A & K, 336 9th.
In Manhattan there are several more that I like.
I suggest my clients pick out stone or other dominant materials or fixtures first, where the choices are fewer. Finding tiles to go with that will be easier. Than the question is what are the other qualities required of the tile?
The question of where to get the tile is secondary. Ask your tile contractor.

Classic Tile on 86th St near 15th Ave is excellent. Old-school Brooklyn, great selection, great staff. We just bought subway and glass tiles from them, and were very happy with the experience and pricing (they even gave us an espresso while we shopped–gotta love Italians!).
We just placed an order with A&K Tile on 9th St between 5th and 6th. They have a large selection, and spent quite a bit of time with us as we looked through and tried to pick things out. (We even ended up going with a couple of their design suggestions.) They are probably more expensive than Lowes or Home Depot, but it was worth it to us to get the personal attention.
Assuming the tile comes in as ordered, on time and with no problems, I would recommend them highly.
i use galactic…they’re on 3rd ave at like 13th?
though they dont have a huge huge selection they’re
service is great. Andy the owner is a nice guy….quality.
bought a ton of wall tile and slate floor tiles from them for our bathroom and a granite countertop for our tenants apartment. no run around…when they say it’ll be in or when they’ll be there it’s right on.
tomgee, they’re moving down the block.
bergen is out uf business….at least the flatbush location
I bought at Bergen for 1 bathroom and if you can find what you like their prices are quite reasonable.
