I live in Windsor Terrace and just put an offer on a place in kensington. Anyone know how the restaurants on Church between ocean parkway and macdonald are?

  1. Ft Hamilton has Thia Tony’s which is great and just recently a sushi place opened which is great — and last a new coffee shop just opened a few days ago that seems to have a nice breakfast and lunch menu — but have not tried it yet.

  2. I would second southslope’s recommendation of 2B Thai on Beverly Rd. We go there probably once a month. The place itself is very plain, but delicious food at great prices. Old Brick Cafe on Church Ave seems decent as well. I think there are more places on Ft. Hamilton Parkway, but we haven’t checked them out as we live farther south.

  3. We used to order from AM Thai a lot… until 2 B Thai opened on E2nd right off church (where Beverly begins). The food is excellent. I highly recommend the Thai Beef Jerky. Also Thai Tony’s on Fort Hamilton b/t 2nd and 3rd is good.

  4. There is also the Old Brick Cafe- a place run by folks from Montenegro (former Yugoslavia). The food is good and the people are nice. Some really good stew- type dishes. It’s on E. 5th and Church. That stretch of Church is a little lacking. I live closer to CIA and Ditmas so we eat at the Cortelyou road places and some of the Pakistani places on CIA. Medina has good food.

  5. The selection is limited to none, most of the “good” sit-in restaurants closed shop in the late 80′ – 90’s (Scarolas, etc.) We are now left with mostly take out Chinese/Mex places and pizza shops. Korner Pizza which has been around since the 60’s does make a mean slice…best in Brooklyn!

  6. The coffeshop on the south side of Church Avenue, next to the Polish grocery store is a reliable breakfast place, and good for Greek salad too. George the waiter is super nice.

A falafel shop opened a few months ago (the Pita Stop?) on that stretch of Church Avenue as well.

For deliveries I like the Thai place at MacDonald & Abelmarle.
