i hate my jenn-air cooktop (REALLY hate it) and want to replace it with a viking we like. because it has to fit into the existing cutout – so the dimension are more complicated – i want someone to come and measure to ensure that the new cooktop will fit without alterations BEFORE we buy it. the only place that will do this is Gringers – and they are a big pain to work with.

So, my question is: anyone got any ideas/references about who would come measure and then install my cooktop. it is a tiny job and most contractors are just not interested.

thanks!!!!

  1. Try J&R on 7th Ave in Park Slope. I have heard they sell any appliance and will match if not give better price than any other retailer. If they are that accommodating, perhaps they will install as well.

  2. I installed a viking on my own, no need for a contractor. Have the store provide you the rough measurements, which will either fit to your liking or not. If the rough measurements fit, buy it and slide it in place.

A contractor will want between 750-1000 to handle such a small task since it will likely consume a whole day (coming to measure, pickup unit, remove old, install new, etc) for 2 people.
