We have maybe 150 sq ft of 80-100 year old tongue & groove planks that are coming out of our house. The planks are about 10″ wide and range in length from 3 – 8 feet. They are likely oak, and have most recently been used as a wall, so they are painted and have been nailed. But if stripped & cleaned, I am certain they would make great wood for some kind of furniture, wainscotting, or flooring. Our contractor wants to just dump it all, but I’d like to see it get used somewhere.

Thanks!
It’s probably not oak but more likely chestnut which can look like oak (it is an extinct species). Oak didn’t usually come in 10″ widths. The only problem is the lot is small in size. I typically look for 1,000 sq. ft. or more at a time. Build it Green may be interested and you get a tax write off worth more than what you’ll get in Craigslist and they are a worthy place to donate to. Fred from Silver Fox
10:47- thanks for clarifying that. Would there be a reason they didn’t take the wood? I thought they pretty much took everything that could be reused?
“Build it Green” is a salvage and green building supply place. FYI since that wasn’t explained by 11:41. They may take the wood. But definitely if you put in on Craigslist you’d get takers.
offer them to build it green-
