Is it normal for roofing companies not to provide warranty on repairs? We got pricing from a reputable roofing company to replace 2 skylights, including necessary amendments to the structure where the skylight is placed.
I’m happy with their reputation, and the pricing seems fair. I’m a bit concerned that there’s no warranty.
Also, a side question on tax, do one pays tax on materials or full work bill? etc.

  1. There are no warranties nor guarantees when repairs are performed. Only time you get a written warranty is when you have the entire roof redone, then and only then since you have covered your property with new materials in whole you get this. When partial work is performed and you get a leak that infiltrates from another portion of the roof , do you declare the Contractor incompetent? no you shouldnt, you get what you pay for, this is why there are no warranties with repairs.

  2. The Key word is a “Repair” all repairs are taxable on the total bill & Repairs are rarely waranted as the contractor’s are marrying to work they had no control over. If this was a complete roof replacemnet or removal & replacement then that is a Capital Improvement & only the materials are taxable you would be supplied with a Certificate of Capital Improvement to cover Sales tax on Labor.
