I have an estimate from an electrician for a bunch of work that will take about 3 days for 2-3 people. He’s charging hourly at $70/hr per person, plus supplies. This is a small electrical firm, and the job will be done by him and a couple of helpers. He is licensed and insured.

Is this at all a reasonable rate? Or should I negotiate?

  1. BY THE HOUR? I just had my older home rewired and instead of paying by the hour I paid by the job. I used Christopher John electrical. 718-389-9898. They came out the same day I called, they were super clean and were able to get it all done without having to run around for supplies ( and running around can wrack up that by the hour fee). Try em, I really think you will be completely satified!

  2. $210.00 an hour is too much for one licensed electrician and two helpers. Figure $15.00 to $20.00 per hour for the helpers and $100.00 per hour for the electrician, not counting supplies. That’s $130.00 to $140.00 per hour. Why does he need two helpers? Usually they work with one unless it’s a big job.

  3. I do recommend Mohamed did work in my house, 2 person for 6 hours and I paid 550.00 cash much less.
I got the referral from Brownstoner.
