Boiler exhaust and deck
I have a new gas boiler that is direct venting out the basement in the back about 3 feet above ground level. I want to build a deck 5 feet above it. Does anyone know if this will run up against code?

It’s almost definitely against code since the exhaust has to be so many feet from everything. That said, it’s not dangerous 5′ away, regardless of what you’ll hear. Maybe you can extend it a few feet to beyond the edge of the deck, watching out for vent length maximums and nosy neighbors. I’ll wait for MP to flame me.
I don’t see a reference to decks in the boiler literature but sitting three feet above the boiler exhaust can’t be a good idea in any event.
SS, the exhaust from these new modcon boilers is not that hot, but I see your point 🙂
I was being silly and referring to the part of the story where the witch climbs into the oven and gets cooked.
I’m not positive, but I feel that the DOB would not allow a deck above a boiler vent.
Senatorstreet, what on earth do you mean?
Reread Hansel and Gretel.
(Sorry, but I had to)
