How can I remove the metal frame of an old glass shower door from the tub without damaging the tub? The glass door is long gone, just the frame remains. It looks to be fastened to the tub and tile walls with both screws and some kind of cement-like adhesive. Thanks.

  1. Use a heat gun to soften any silicone or glue that may have been used, run a box cutter or 5 in 1 knife to separate frame from tile. In less than an hour you are ready to go.

  2. It’s probably not adhesive but caulk. If it was installed in the past 20 years or so it’s probably silicon.

Remove the screws, then run a utility knife around the bead. Start at one end and slide/tap a thin-bladed caulking knife between the frame and the wall. A little gentle prying with a wonderbar should loosen it.
