Hello,
I know that there are all kinds of topics on here with good contractor recommendations, but I am posting a new one anyway!

I am looking to do a very small amount of wall demo in my co-op and demo and lay new kitchen floor tiles.

Can anyone recommend a good, licensed and insured contractor to do this small job?

Also- I would especially appreciate a recommendation from someone who has had work done in the Clinton Hill Co-ops that they are happy with.

Thanks!

  1. You have probably done this already, but just in case — you should ask your neighbors in the Clinton Hill Co-ops who they have used, and look for someone to give a good recommendation. Your neighbors are unlikely to steer you to someone they didn’t like, a far better recommendation than from a blog. We did this when we started thinking about a renovation — we told every person we ran into we were looking for someone, and got many, many horror stories about contractor experiences. Finally we found someone who had a great experience and explained that they had the contractor’s name from someone else in their building who had also had a great experience. He wasn’t the cheapest, but well worth the extra money for peace of mind, and wasn’t the most expensive either. It took a while to finally find someone who actually recommended their contractor, so you really need to tell everyone you meet, even a passing acquaintance, that you are looking for someone.
