Boiler Replacing
Am looking at a brownstone where the boiler is old and needs replacing. I believe it is more efficient to have one on every floor. Does anyone know how much it would cost? Also, what will switching from Oil to natural Gas cost or what impact may it have? Thanks!!

Are people happier with Natural Gas? I am thinking of switching but National Grid is surprisingly weak at making the argument for the switch. They won’t say that it will cost less, only that I’ll be buying “American” energy. Last year I think paid about $4,000+ to heat about 3,000 square feet.

You’d most probably have to resize the gas lines to the upper floors, so add in that cost (a lot?). Also, cost of 3-4 boilers will be substantially more than 1 larger one.
Efficiency gain would be marginal, so unless the goal is to shift the heating cost to tenants, why are you doing this?
210 Kbtu is substantial…hope 11:22’s house is much larger than mine…I have 150 Kbtu for 3000 sq ft.
I had a new Burnham Boiler in installed this year from keyspan for 210 BTU it cost $6400 soup to nuts.
