I need to get some pictures framed and I am looking for some recommendations for framers in the Brooklyn area. Thanks!

  1. For a more high end choice (when you have original art that needs a really good aesthetic eye, and an understanding of how best to protect the art) check out Prints Charming run by Darren Von Stein. The store moved a year ago to 4th St nr the corner of 5th Ave. Darren isn’t inexpensive but he’s damn good.

  2. Second the recommendation for Make a Frame on Atlantic. We’ve had several things framed by them, they do an excellent job and are super nice and helpful.

  3. Make-a-frame
    180 Atlantic ave
    Brooklyn, NY 11201
    (718) 875-6150

They’ve been around for a long time and they do a great job at a resonable price. They are located in the cobble hill/brooklyn heights area on Atlantic ave.

  4. Frame-It on 3rd Av Between 24th & 25th is a good place to take your framing. They have a huge selection of frames and mats. Despite their assurance that their work is archival, the prices weren’t as high as I’ve seen in other places and the salespeople were friendly and really knew their stuff.

  5. Clinton Hill framing or art supply or something on Mrytle just past Classon. The woman that runs it is great and friendly and does an excellent job.

  6. For real art on which we want archival high quality framing we go to Brooklyn Frameworks on 5th Ave in Park Slope. They do excellent work and have a good frame selection. But we need to find a more moderately priced frame shop for less serious framing jobs. Like I’m not paying $400 to frame a movie poster again like we did at Brooklyn Frameworks. If people have suggestions for just a really basic good but not high priced frame shop, would love to hear it.
