We are looking for a reputable company to give us a quote on getting our 7 fireplaces working again. The marble facades have already been restored – we want to try and get them working! Anyone know someone good?

  1. You must use Manny. I second the previous poster’s comments about Manny Lasalle. He is very competant — knows everything there is to know about fireplaces (he assembled several fireplaces for me from pieces), chimneys, flues, masonry associated with chimneys. He will make sure that you have a safe (most important thing) working fireplace. He is reasonably priced, responsive and a very nice guy. He helped me out with several things including a crumbling chimney. Good luck.

See the post below for my post and pics and his phone number.

He was very thorough and did a great job. We ran into a problem with the boiler flue after they did some work on the chimney and he came out at 11 p.m. with his crew to take care of it. The FP works really great and did not need to be deepened. Be warned though, that it is a messy job. Really messy.

  3. David Watt, 212-683-008, restored all eight of my chimneys for burning wood. They were originally for coal, so he had to make them go deeper into the walls and line them with firebrick in addition to lining the flues. He did a great job. He has been in the business for years and knows all the intricate details about fireplaces — knowledge that can only be gained from years of experience — so that they all draw superbly. His prices were very reasonable, as well, and he coped extemely well with a lot of odd things that came up.
