A number of their properties have come on market recently. Anyone know quality of their work – that is, can the electric/plumbing be trusted to be really good? Of course, this would come up in inspection but before getting to that point (and dropping the cash), wondering if anyone can speak to their reputation?

  1. I can’t speak to the quality of the work, but if their business interaction is any indication, I would not trust them at all. Had a horrible experience bidding on a house they reno’d and flipped a few years ago. We lost the bidding war, even tho we had been clear to say that we’d been willing to go higher. They said there were “other considerations.” Considering we were pre-approved with great credit, the down payment ready to pay w no property to have to sell and were extremely flexible on time of close/move-in so they could take advantage of primary residence taxation, it was a downright bitter pill to swallow. I can only assume that the buyers who won the war were willing to pay extra with a bag of cash under the table. Property Shark shows that the sell price was rougly the same we’d bid. Charette seems like a lovely couple with a young child (perhaps they have had more in the meantime), but were smarmier than some of the smarmiest real estate people I’ve ever encountered. When we related this story to others who lived in the neighborhood afterward, it was confirmed that they are stinky. Stay away unless you love the house so much you are willing to resort to illegal buying tactics.
