Contractor put the heat mats way to deep, now upon testing no real warmth after many hours trial.
Besides breaking up the new slate floor – any suggestions!?!

  1. I’m assuming you’ve got electric radiant heat?

    The first thing you’ve got to do is get an electrician to take an amperage reading of the system to make sure it’s doing what it’s supposed to.

    Then contact the manufacturer and tell them what you know. They should be able to help you.

  2. I would be surprised they are too deep to work. Makes more sense to me that the system is broken somehow – broken / disconnected wire or something. Try leaving it on for a day & if it doesn’t warm up then you have a broken system. If it does warm up then depth is a problem but in that case I imagine you have a choice of leaving it on over winter or breaking the tile & redoing…
