I’m looking for some handrail parts, esp. a left hand “twist and turn”. The few stair people I’ve spoken to – Soxco and NY Circular Stair – do not seem interested in the job.
My contractor is willing to work on the railing if I can find this part, or I can go to another stair person.
Anyone out there have parts for sale or another stair specialist to recommend? I would really appreciate it.
If you are in brooklyn, try the custom wood store on bedford and herkimer (right past atlantic but before fulton). He created cherry wood spindles and other stair related items for me. He also re-created my cousin’s top staircase. He is reliable and does excellent work. I cannot remember the number.
I’ve got a twist — email me an I’ll send you a pic[ daroogle@gmail.com ]
Not sure if this is too far for you but there’s a stair company in CT that you might want to check out. Their website is http://www.eastcoaststairscompany.com
They have a product listing in their gallery.
call bill at ny fine circular stairs 718 218 9051. he has the parts.
I have a couple of twists and turns from old handrails. What kind of wood is it?(i have oak, and mahogany)
Of course, the actual degree of twist or turn my not be exact, or the profile may be different, but, it’s worth a shot.

Try Van Dykes, they have everything.
1:09, sometimes for specialty items, it’s better to find it yourself, especially if it’s something that will take a bit of a search, or is something very special or specific.
Do you want to pay a contractor to do something you can do with some time on the internet and/or a few phone calls? Even the best contractor doesn’t know where to get everything, and whatever he does know, may or may not be what you want, or want to pay, especially with his % on top.
There is nothing wrong with finding it yourself. The contractor can tell you if what you find will work or not, I’d rather have him/her for that part of the job.
Shouldn’t your contractor be sourcing product and subs for you? Don’t contractors charge a % of the total job cost for this reason? Otherwise wouldn’t you just be paying them hourly for their labor as a? I thought that’s what separated contractors from handymen. Am I misunderstanding something?
I bought balustrades from some place a few years ago…can’t remeber their name..just google stairs and stair parts and a lot of companies will come up…i’ve seen those parts listed
