The Brownstone Agency has dropped A.I.G. as their insurance carrier for what I heard was because A.I.G. was slow in paying claims, I never had a problem with the Brownstone Agency in dealing with them for the past 12 Years, I suggest you call one of their direct brokers and speak to them about the new Company they are more knowledgeable then their direct service people, I use Ralph Fiumefreddo at 212-699-8981.

  1. Oops scratch that, I read down further down on the list the details for AIG American International Group and they really rant on and say not to buy AIG.

  2. There is this grassroots nonprofit site I found once that rates the homeowners insurance companies and AIG is not well rated. It’s #12 out of 50 on their Hall of Shame, though they don’t say not to buy it.

We’re paying a lot for Chubb but it’s always rated highly on all lists I’ve found. Although it’s annoying to get those invoices. I’ve had Amica before and they’re very good too.

  3. That’s funny–I just renewed my policy a few weeks ago, for another three years through Brownstone Agency and it’s with an AIG subsidiary.

If this is true, it wouldn’t be the first time BA changed carriers–my frst BA policy, in 1974, was with the Insurance Company of the State of Pennsylvania.

  4. I contacted the brownstone agency and was quoted a premium twice what another broker was able to do for me – and they subbed it out to the brownstone agency!
