If the work is quietly done you might be able to avoid the board requirements.
Just make ure you hire someone experienced at the task.
It is a very small job and the price will be jacked up to accommodate
the insurance policy.
You’ll have a hard time finding someone. It has nothing to do with $200. A job this small, you probably don’t even need board approval (technically you do, but I wouldn’t bother). You should make sure the person has insurance, though.
I saw on NY1 that a job over $200 should be done by a license contractor. I could be wrong about the dollar amount, in any case, I’m finding it extremely difficult to find someone to do such a small job. In addition, we live in a condo & my husband will not hire someone who isn’t licensed.
licensed? for this? you need a handyman or a millworker.
