I have had 3 sides of my garden floor walls stripped down to the brick. The front and back (of the house) walls have some areas in which the bricks have shifted and lots of mortar is spilling/flaking out. Any suggestions or referrals/info about dealing with this? Can I just have the walls wire brushed and sealed where it is in good shape and then patch with cement mortar where it is messy. It will be covered by cabinets where it is mostly messy anyway.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Without seeing the condition of your wall space I’d just recommend getting an estimate from someone that works with masonry and going from there. Assuming you stripped the wall to reveal and showcase the brick, best to first try and execute your plan before resorting to covering the wall again.

  3. You are probably better off furring over the brick wall and closing it off with gypsum board if you’re hanging cabinets on it. Doesn’t sound like your wall is in any shape to solidly support masonry anchors.
