ceiling painting question

My contractor says that the reason the ceiling looks like multiple shades of white instead of one color is that the bathroom is too hot – there is a steam heater there and the light fixture generates additional heat, so he can’t paint properly without the paint drying or “turning into small balls”. Is that a reasonable explanation? Is there a trick to making a coat of paint look like it’s one color throughout the ceiling?
True -just need to cool down the bath, heat rises, if it’s hot at floor level imagine what it is at the ceiling. It’s causing the paint to dry immediately and latex paint can produce small “balls”. Read the temperature range limitations on the paint can. And turn the heat off!
yeah, sounds fishy. just turn the heat off. it’s march.
It doesn’t sound like a reasonable explanation to me. Prime with stain blocker and paint a few coats. If it’s so hot in there, turn off those lights while painting and bring in a work light. “Turning into balls”? Is the paint bubbling? Perhaps there is residual glue or something on the ceiling that needs to be scrapped or cleaned. Also, if you don’t have an exhaust fan in there, your paint job won’t last too long. But it should look fine going on.
