It is further down Atlantic past bedford and Pennsylvania Avenues – I would like to see other development watches other than the downtown Park Slope area of Brooklyn.
Mr. B. Please cover
E. New York also, we have many many 1800 Victorians, Limestones, and Brick Row homes.
Thanks.
Its not that they considered Park Slope a drug infested hellhole, it was a drug infested hellhole.
But eventually they moved to East NY.
And hey, the way prices are going up in so many neighborhoods, many more of us who want to buy houses will be buying them in neighborhoods not yet covered on this blog, like East New York. (There was a time not long ago when people didn’t want to buy in Park Slope, either, and considered much of it a drug infested place, too.)
Not saying I’m pro-gentrification, or looking to see people get pushed out of their homes and neighborhoods. But this is how it happens – people move out to the next neighborhood, where they can afford to live.

Guess what? I too read this site and I am from ENY.
To the OP, I’m not sure, but you may be refering to the Habitat for Humanity Coops.
To the rest of you, with the exception of the “village idiot”, I for one will take your suggestions and be more proactive in promoting ENY.
I agree with 5:23 and Bob Marvin. Go for it.
And just ignore idiots like 1:10. Trust me, you’ll get a lot of them.
Some people on this blog have taken ignorance to new lows, especially about places that they have never been to, and know nothing about. ALL neighborhoods have history, good people, and worth. All are worthy of our attention.
Good luck.
Yeah he could call his new blog the ENY shithole blog and post all the info on the latest crack sales etc.
I agree with the OP completely.
This site and its readers claim to be Brooklyn historic preservationist-minded, but then we’ll often see everyone slam a beautiful house because of its neighborhood. They’ll show no interest in historic houses IN BROOKLYN just because the houses aren’t in an upscale area. So obviously the claim to be preservationist is phony baloney. This site is all about real estate investing, period. Mr. Brownstoner comes from finance and it shows.
But Bob was right, send leads, send stories, keep it up. When you see a particularly lovely truly older historic house for sale in your neighborhood, suggest covering it. If you note a new development going up send in that news. Or you know what, start your own blog about your area. Almost every neighborhood in Brooklyn has its own blog now. Check some of them out. Brownstoner is not the only place to go.
Good luck! I myself would love to learn more about your neighborhood and about all historic areas of Brooklyn. Maybe someday somebody will start a real genuine preservationist site covering all of NYC.
3:28 you asshole, I have had two advertisers on the this site come and do work in my Victorian (Woodfloors, and landscaping).
Don’t be such snobs-the majority of those who are on this site are new to Brooklyn anyway, Mr. B included. Brooklyn is very big with many areas that have alot to offer. This site is a bit limited and does not represent the true spirit of Brooklyn.
I gets a bit tired reading about the same projects in the same areas. It is time to expand to other areas other than downtown BK.
If you want Mr. B to cover your neighborhood I suggest that YOU send him leads.
Some of us [no names mentioned], who are avid boosters of less well known neighborhoods, [PLG, for example] do exactly that.
Thirty some odd years ago I took a class at the New School with Everett Ortner, the dean [and possibly inventor] of the brownstone “movement.” On the subject of publicizing your neighborhood, Ortner used the quaint old saying “don’t hide your light under a bushel.” I’ve taken that to heart [whoops–I mean “some of us”have taken that to heart].
How many of the advertisers on the site would even take a job out there?
