I am looking for a place that is able to re-enamel an old double sink one side is in good shape just dirty (the double depth side) and the other side needs some real help. Anyone know of some place that could do this and does the entire sink need to be re-enameled or can they do just one side? And lastly about how much would it cost? Thanks in advance.
My parents have a really nice double enamel sink in their second kitchen. The room has been used as my mom’s sewing room for the past 30 yrs, and therefore sink was never used. It’s in pristine condition. Would you be interested in buying it? If so, how much would you pay for it?
12:44 can you give us an approximate price for the work you had done, as well as how long it took and what site prep was needed. Want to reglaze tub in tenant’s apt, but they have a small (six months) child. Are there toxic fumes, can they be in apt after it is done or will the need for a week etc? thanks
Yes, I see that you have the same farm sink that I have. I love these old sinks. Like I said, many refinishing people told me that the new surface will not hold up. They said it would look great for a few weeks but once it gets scratched the finish will look really bad. You may want to just clean your sink really well and use a rubber mat or grill to protect the inside of the sink.
Check out Melga Sales (the website is Melgasales.com). They’ve reglazed two tubs for me and I believe they do sinks as well as there is a sink depicted on the home page of the website (it’s worth checking out). They did a FANTASTIC job both times on my tubs (one was for my home, and the other was for an apartment that I was selling). The website is most informative, and I’ve been dealing with a super nice guy named Charlie. There prices are most reasonable, and the reglazed tubs look phenomenal and come with a 3-year warranty. Perhaps there is something similar for the sinks. I’m sure that Charlie could give you his opinion about whether a reglazed sink would withstand the banging of pots and pans, and he could give you an estimate over the phone. Good luck!
This is the closest to what the sink i am looking to resurface looks like

i think it is cast iron – thanks for your info Rick
Are you talking about an old cast iron farm sink? I have one too that I wanted to have resurfaced by a company that does tubs. I was told by many resurfacing companies that it wasn’t a good idea because these sinks take a beating daily with plates, pans & forks, compared to claw foot bath tubs that don’t get scratched up. You may want to just clean your sink well or get another one that has less wear.
