To sell or scrap my scrap metal?
We are no longer in need of a 4×6 iron platform, railing and stairs that leads from our garden floor to the backyard. We’re curious if there is an aftermarket for the iron. Enough so that an interested party would pay to come take it away? (Should we dream on?) Thought it was worth posting…

There are so many commercials on the air lately begging for scrap metal. Oh, and it was built by Vinnie’s.
It’s certainly worth something. Depending on prices the steel could be worth anywhere from .4 cents per pound to .12 cents per pound in my experience.
You can learn alot about scrap metal over at the scrap metal forum here, http://www.scrapmetalforum.com
I’m surprised you didn’t just take it to a scrap yard yourself. Scrap yards will buy iron at $.09 per pound, so if you have 1000 pounds of iron, thats 90 dollars! just load it into a truck and haul it to a yard. If still selling I would love! Amy from first post 503-490-5511.
Thanks!

Mixed cast iron / steel goes for about $0.06/pound.
Artists/sculptors might want it. Put it on Craigs List and see. It’s free to list it there.
I think you need a really large quantity for it to be worthwhile for the scrap guys.
However, if you just want to get rid of it then leave it in front of your house and it will be gone in no time. There are people who drive around looking for this stuff.
If you have transportation you can take it down to 3rd ave, there are lots of places. They will give you a few bucks for it but don’t count on too much. I think you can only count on a few cents per pound.
The scrap metal guys are really picky. They like copper. Anything else…it’s like they’re doing you a favor. It’s probably a good idea to find it a good home with someone who might actually use it, like 12:28. Or you can drop it off at the scrap metal place near Dykes.
Hi there,
I am looking to put something similiar on my back 2nd floor – maybe it would fit and we could buy it from you (& pick it up)? If interested, would you mind calling me at 503-490-5511. Thanks!!
