I am trying to install a curtain rod in my apartment. I tried to drill using a masonry bit, but it seems as if I hit a metal plate. I think it’s the rebar so I doubt a metal bit would work. Is there any other way I can install my curtain rod?

  1. I ran into the same thing and got self-tapping metal screws to hold the rods in. Actually, my dad did it for me. So I guess my second suggestion is call your mom or dad.

  2. depends how big a hole you made
the hole will be covered up, but if you made a large hole then there is less surface for the glue to stick to to hold the plywood in place

  3. rebar would not be close to the surface, you probably hit a metal plate or flashing

You can try, ceiling mounted rods, tension rods inside the window frame, or attaching the brackets to a strip of plywood that you then glue to the wall- a heavier rod+ curtain would require more plywood surface area to glue down. Depending on the surface this might not work at all.
