Can someone recommend a good blinds/curtain shop that would come to your home to measure and give estimates?

Are Budget Blinds reliable?

Thanks

  1. Go Local! Pintchek (spelling is at least close) is great — just off Flatbus in PS. Very nice people who will take care of eveything. They have all the brands and great prices.

  2. Smith + Noble now has a service where they come to your house and measure. Think they partner with local tradespeople to do that. It’s on the website.

  3. I would also love some recommendations of custom shops. I need a pair of fabric window shades and the quotes from ABC in Manhattan were off the charts but Smith & Noble doesn’t have the kind of fabric I like. Can anyone suggest a well-priced custom shade maker? Thanks.

  4. I’ve also ordered from Smith and Noble with good results. The ordering process on their website gives very good, detailed instructions for doing the measuring yourselves. The blinds we received were a perfect fit.
I also just discovered that they offer a limited lifetime guarantee–recently the cord frayed on wood blinds we ordered from them almost two years ago, and they are replacing the entire custom blind at no charge. Can’t beat that for service. (Now if only they would stop sending us so many catalogs…)

  5. I got the solar shades for my LR and the honeycomb shades for my bedroom at Horizon Window Treatments. I stopped into their Chelsea location to see their options & talk to a helpful rep who assisted me with my choices. The rep came out to my apartment in Brooklyn and did all the measurements and then a week later came back to do a quick install. I cannot recommend them more highly !
