Staircase Inspection

I am planning to install new carpet on my staircase and landing (I just ripped up carpet that had been in place for at least 20 years). Before I lay down new carpet I would like to hire someone to inspect the staircase and do minor repairs (the bottom stair definitely needs to be tightened). any suggestions for a trustworthy professional to do this work would be apppreciated. Is this work for a carpenter? handyman? Thanks. BTW this staircase will beused by tenants in a 2 floor two family townhouse,
