Has anyone ever used one of the companies that advertise for regrouting bathroom tile. If not, recommendations for a reasonable tile contractor would be appreciated. My bathroom tiles are in excellent shape but the tub area and floor definitely need to be regrouted. Thanks

  1. I’ve been to Long Island, Manhattan, and even upstate for clients, and I live in Ca, My Company was the first and still is the only exclusive Regrout company in the US! I have a patent on a tool and I have the Trademark and copyrights to extracting grout from tile with my tool. We do not paint, stain, caulk,or color the grout,, it is tile and grout, not “tile and whatever” is the least expensive way to apply lipstick to your pig!! see my website at regroutusa.com and maybe you will start to value your dicontinued, irreplacable tile and start to appreciate why all those dead craftsmen did what they did, not only for money to feed their families, but for the love and pride of true craftmanship!! Your tile is not the problem, If you can find someone that can say they can do what I can do and prove it, I will pay for their work!!! I have grouted more than anybody else alive and I can prove it! All I do is remove grout and apply grout day in and day out for 16yrs with a big tile on my face. Have you ever heard of you get what you pay for??? or how about genuine. Santa Barbara is the most expensive city in the whole U.S.A.with a medium home price of 1.25 mil and the average home being 60yrs old. LOTS OF TILE here too! Don’t go looking for a new kia at a Mercedes dealership!!!!!

  2. You don’t need to caulk a perfectly straight line. Once you’ve laid the caulk down, dip your finger into a little bowl of water and run finger over top of caulk to smooth it all down. Be sure to keep finger wet while smoothing. You’ll want to have something to wipe excess caulk off of your finger with.

  3. Quick question: Do I have to be concerned about caulking between the tub and tile if there’s already grout in between the tub and tile? Been trying to caulk a straight line, but it look’s terrible. I just smeared a little bit on, hoping that it’s all I need to do.
    thanks!

  4. I’ve used Rob Mara several times who advertises on Craig’s List as the “tile guy”. He fixed some bad tile work I had done and regrouted a tub for me. He did a good job, knows his stuff and takes pride in his work. I will definitely use him again.

  5. Thanks for all the responses.

Actually, I spoke to someone on the phone today (not sure how good he is) and was told that from what I described I only need caulking done and can have the floor tile grout changed by using a colorant. I was told that when the original tile work was done (probably about 10 years) ago they should have come back after the grouting and caulked the areas that are now cracking (around the tub and where the floor meets the wall). The person who actually owns the company and does the work will call me back on Sunday with an estimate.

    Does this sound feasible?

4:23 – Thanks for asking the question I forgot to ask in my original post. My bathroom is only about 5×7.

Also, need a backsplash installed that is 10 linear feet and was wondering what that will cost? Probably will go with subway tile with a mosaic border/liner.

    Thanks again.
