hi Brownstoners, I want to create a small powder room/half bath on the parlor floor of my house. I have to keep it in a specific place because there’s an existing waste line in that location (had the original BR taken out cause it was a very weird “wedge” shape and also the future location of my kitchen). I can’t afford to have the waste line moved. Anyway, I don’t have much width to work with because the location of this waste line is right behind a doorway. The absolute maximum width I could make it is 26″ – 28″. Does anyone have any info about whether that could work? Or is that just way too narrow. thanks
thanks for the feedback everyone. I will proceed with 28″ min in mind.
Make it 28″, tight but it will work. Be sure there is at least 2′ of leg room in front of the toilet.
I have a half-BR on my parlor floor in a former closet which is 28.5×49 (inches). It’s basically just enough room to fit a grown man in – my 6’5 250 brother in law can fit in there OK. We were able to expose the brick behind the toilet (back wall of the house) to gain an extra inch or so for the length.
I believe the toilet has to be 18″ on center from another fixture or wall on both sides, which would be 36″ minimum meet code. Could could probably make less work, but it boils down to code.
