Doorbell Transformer Buzzing
The transformer for my doorbell is buzzing and whenever I’m in my basement it drives me insane. What causes the transformer to buzz, and how can I fix it myself? Thx in advance =)

Thanks Brooklyn Fire Alarm Guy! I’ll try it out.
Happy holidays!
This is usually caused by one of two things:
1 It is mounted poorly and is vibrating.
2 It is failing.
The repair can be interesting. Typically these are mounted to the side of your breaker panel (low voltage wiring outside the panel – high voltage inside. Because breaker panels get sheetrocked in place these transformers can be difficult to service. There should be a label on the transformer with its output or secondary voltage, put a meter on the output terminals and make sure the power coming out matches the label (in fact the voltage should be higher than the label), if it isn’t – replace it. If it is in range, pull the cover off the panel and use a hammer and a flat head screw driver to tighten the locknut that holds the transformer in place. Place the screwdriver against the locknut and whack with hammer (repeat as necessary). Remember, that just about everything in the electrical panel you are exposing has enough juice to make you dead – suffice to say, don’t get dead.
