This painting was left to me. Im pretty sure its not of any value or importance but I wouldn’t mind getting some information on it. I find it quite beautiful in a dark demented way and I wonder if there is any other information about it out there.

Does anyone know of a local company/person that might be able help?

I can’t make out the artist’s name in the signature the internet has been no help.

  1. I remember reading in a back issue of ArtNews that this very painting was stolen from one of Saddam Hussein’s Palaces. It must be returned to the good people of Iraq at once.

  2. you see, if this were an old picture, the subject matter would have dictated a very somber and dark pallette. Very muddy and sinister. this may be a copy of such a victorian picture, which itself may not be worth much but at least something, except the painter used a very incongruous palette of pastel and flower colors. the piture makes no sense visually, it is the worst king of sofa art, burn it before it destroys your soul.

  3. that is one of the tackiest paintings i have ever seen and that includes the stuff my aunt shirley’s left me.
bring it to sotheby’s by all means. those folks need a pick me up.

  4. Sorry… It is not worth paying for an appraisal for insurance value and, honestly, you will be very embarrassed if you bring it to Christie’s or “the other guys”…The can be very snide in a “we want to laugh at you but we won’t” way. Trust me, this is great kitsch but not worth appraising.
