We’re renovating a bathroom and wish to move the water lines for the tub. The current configuration was in the middle of the room and so a partial wall was dividing the (quite small) room in half. We figured we would need to replace the existing tub with a left side draining tub as well. A plumber suggested we keep the right side draining tub and simply move the faucet and shower water lines to the left side. Is that a common practice? Shouldn’t the faucet be positioned above the drain? While this solution saves us time and money, I fear it is both a)wrong, plumbing-wise, and b)looks tacky. Any advice? This is for a rental apt. in our two family home, so we want to be sure to keep things up to code as well as visually appropriate. Thanks!
From a practical standpoint, it won’t work. When you take a bath, you sit opposite the faucet which means you’ll be sitting on the drain? Not practical or comfortable.
just make sure the new faucet placement doesn’t smack into your head when you’re taking a bath.
I don’t see a problem taking your plumber’s advice. I don’t think it’s tacky, in fact I don’t think many tenants would not care or notice. Tenants just want a clean working place that they can live in and fill with their stuff.
A) Nothing wrong or inproper about it from a plumbing standpoint. Its done all the time.
