A broad question, but has anyone done a full renovation of a Victorian home? What’s the ballpark figure for renovating?
electrical
plumbing
roof
kitchen
baths

  1. We are just finishing an almost complete renovation.
$25K to replace roof and gutters, add $15K b/c we literally “raised the roof” about five feet to expand the top floor. $5500 for blown in insulation, $25K for new siding. 30K to finish basement and add bathroom. $170 to redo second and top floor includes two new bathrooms, new ceilings, walls, redo floors . . . Also $20K for CAC, add in $15K for architect and 5K for self certifying expediter if you decide to file with DOB. You can email at mholden0@lycos.com if you want an estimate from our contractor who has ben a godsend.

  2. I received an estimate from a contractor earlier this year for reno of a Victorian in Ditmas that needed electric, plumbing, kitchen, baths, roof plus a lot more (siding, decks, sidewalks, plaster repair etc.) The estimate for all the work was approx $265K. If you are interested in seeing the estimate, please post your email and I can send it to you.

  3. We just did our roof. 28850 for the roofing, total removal and rebuild from plywood up, including flashings. 4600 for the gutters, entirely new. Went with wooden soffits and a separate contractor for them–12500 for labor alone, adding materials that came to another 26000. When we dig out of this financial hole we’ll hire an architect for the kitchen/basement/rear deck. He told us expect about $250K all together, once we’ve done air con, sound system, and front porch. It’ll be piecemeal!

  4. I’ve done mine over the years. To do quality work you can probably spend between $225k to $350k. A total upgrade on wiring and plumbing is the most important, and you can economize on thebaths and kitchen.
