my home has the old ‘twisty’ electrical wiring. this morning, in part of my kitchen the power just went out. no fuses blew in the basement. so i can’t seem to restore it. What happened? did some mouse just chew part of my wiring and fry himself will killing the power? i’m stumped. is it just me or is this gonna be a real pain to fix?

  1. By “twisty” wiring, are you talking about the metal-covered armored cable, commonly known as “BX”? It’s about a half inch in diameter. If that’s the wiring, there’s no way a mouse is going to chew through the metal armor — he’d have to have teeth like Jaws in the James Bond movies.

In any case you should try to reset the circuit breaker — turn it all the way off, then back on. If that doesn’t work, call an electrician.
