I have fairly new wood-tile flooring that in theory has a wax finish, but actually only gets grosser and grosser as time goes on (with grime embedding into the wood).
Getting the floor professionally waxed would cost so much that I’d rather find a permanent fix.
I could get the tile refinished, but I’m not clear whether I’d be able to stain the tile a better color, and I’m hesitant to do go the refinishing route because the wood seems to be pretty poor quality.
I have a very limited budget. I’m considering installing swift-lock wood flooring on top of the current floor to avoid professional installation costs.
Does anyone have any advice? Any experience with glue-free floating floors you can share?
Any other ideas?
How hard would this be to do myself?
Thanks!

  1. It sounds like your floor supposed to be the pre-finished type? (type that you installed and is done, not the type you installed, then sand and put finish on by installer)
If so, you used the wrong cleaner to clean the floor so you have grimp and dull the floor. They are not supposed to be waxed. It creates build-up.
If that is the case, then you can do in a simple way of cleaning off the build-up wax and dirt (cleaner especially for no wax, prefinished wood floor) and then clean with the right type of cleaner
