Right now we have contractors in our house doing a major reno. The walls will soon be opened up to redo the electrical. I’d like to capitalize on this opportunity to put our tv/cable/dvd wires behind the walls as well.

I hope to set up a flat screen tv on the wall without any additional wires hanging out. Ideally, I’d like to have a flat panel tv in my living room hung on the wall with the cable box, dvd player, etc in a closet or other room.

Anyone know of someone who can advise on this kind of thing?

  1. Slopefarm – That would work if I wanted the cable box and dvd player right under the tv. I want the tv mounted to the wall without the boxes in sight.

Anon925 – There are radio frequency remotes that can provide a signal to the boxes without line of sight. But this is what I want some help with.

  2. Why do you need a consultant? If your walls are going to be open, just decide where you are going to mount the tv, then have your electrician run a cable line to that spot through the walls from some place on the exterior where the cable will be connected. Have the electrician put an outlet there, too, so that all your connections will be behind the tv. Just realize that if you change your mind about the tv’s location, you will have an outlet and cable jack in a very odd place (you’ll need some art or something to cover it up).
