Hello,
I need to increase power to my townhouse from 200AMPS to about 450AMP(Changing COO from 2 to three family home with separate meters. CAn anyone advise me about costs and permits etc that are invovled. Any estimate of price? The building has been rewired and what is invovled is only redistributing the incoming power to the three new control panels.
Thanks,
Ron
You should also take a look at the size of the conduit coming in from the street service. The gauge of the house feed is tied to amperage, and if they can’t pull the new cable through the old conduit you may have to dig to the street for the service.
You need a licensed electrician to deal with ConEd and pull the permit with them. And will probably need new control panels and meters. We got an estimate of $5000, but that included some rewiring and cleanup of previous wiring in the basement. My understanding is that ConEd comes out for the meter installation.
