I wanted to paint the fire escape of my four story building. It hasn’t been painted in about ten years, so there is a bit of chipping as can be imagined. I will need it chipped and painted and am looking for reliable people to do this for me. Any recommendations? I got an estimate from a neighborhood contractor for about $4500. Seems high? Also, how long do you think this would take? Thanks kindly in advance.
Most people would know that a post by “guest”(such as this),is done by several people not registered with an account, not all from the same person,John.”Isn’t that wierd?”
first of all pay attn to the people posting on comments.NOTICE all 4 comments are by the same person isn’t that weird.
#2.if you dont hire the proper people you can get in alot of trouble dont listen to the guy “quest” he doesn’t know what he’s
talkin about when dealing with paint you have to watch out for lead in the paint.
you may need an evironmental com to remove.
people will then call 311 on you and you will be fined ,please do yourself a favor let
somebody who knows what there doing.
my name is john just call me i can help you
and have plenty of brownstoner references.

2:45….you dont have a receipt with his number on it? I either missed the post or it isnt available any more. How long ago was that. I need the same work that you had done.If possible can you email me at watchingchange@aol.com with a telephone number. Thanks…..Bree
That is very expensive, I just had the back of my house repointed, 2 coats of thorocoat, the fire escape repainted and the understoop area redone. All for $4300. A guy named Alam did the work – he was fast and did a great job. I got his number from an old post in the forum
you could have called A.H Contracting. they are specialized in paintings. they did several jobs in parkslope . so far they are reasonable i heard. give him a call .917-916-8626
Email rafteiri1@aol.com, he charged me a lot less than that and
he has insurance and speaks english.
If your day laborer falls or stumbles off your fire escape he will find a lawyer who will sue.
i know Kabir, who also does the same work but $4500 seems really high to me..try giving him a call at 17184145363
You could pick up a day laborer for $100 a day and get the job done for less that $1000.
You need to get a wire brush and metal scraper from the hardware store as well as metal primer and paint. Have all the loose stuff scraped off and then prime and paint it.
Good luck!
