I have some metal clad (aluminum?) windows and they are the kind that have sliding tabs at the top of the window so they can be tilted out for cleaning.
In order to have a wide countertop delivered, the countertop company wants me to remove the windows altogether. How do I do this easily?? Thank you!
I can’t seem to figure it out

  1. Unfortunately, the door is under the steps, and the slab is to big to make the turn. I tried the twisting method, and seem to be able to remove the window. Getting it back in was a bit of a tussle, but I go it in the end. Hopefully it will go smoothly when they deliver the granite.

  2. I agree.. When you tilt these windows then try to close them sometimes the mechanisms dont work. I have had to call the window guys several times. Good luck.

  3. We have been battling this kind of windows since we had them installed many years ago. You have to disconnect them from the mechanism that controls the sliding up and down. Once disconnected they cannot be reconnect without a special tool that you use to pull the rod out of the mechanism and reattach the rod to the window. We actually purchased this gismo. Try a window company- Park Slope Glass or something like that, they may be able to help.

  4. IIRC mine can be removed if you twist them after they’re tilted in. I only did that once, by accident. If you try it, good luck getting them back–I had to call the company that did the installation.
