If it won’t look good, we’ll probably just sheetrock over it (sucky option). Thanks!
That is true, but if you seal the outside with good tuck pointing,do the same for the inside and replace or cover the old wood lintels with new ones you’ll be OK.
If you don’t have the extra money that is another situation.One way or the othergood luck.
You may want to look into this with the aid of some professionals. It sounds like you have a brick filled frame home rather than a brick home. Not to say this is any better or worse but the structural considerations are different as are things like insulation.
I’ve heard that filling the frame with brick is an old practice and have heard people mention that it is better to remove the brick and insulate with modern material. So I’m not sure that your walls are really set up to allow for the “exposed” look that can be achieved with brick buildings.
