Creating a Window
Does anyone have experience with knocking a window out of a concrete wall? The wall does not come close to any other building and is on the 2nd floor. I believe it is on the border of the property. I know I’ll need permits but I do not know how to even begin. Any information…

On the property line requires a lot line window.
Lot line windows have wired glass. If not seen from the street no need for land marks. Opening
or penetrating a wall should be done with care
so as not to create a structural instability.
You need a masonary contractor. The width of
the window will determine for the most part the
cost as the wider the window, the heavier the steel.
I put a window in years ago. While I don’t know the distance that is necessary, my window is in the back and 20 feet from the rear neighbor, and is Landmark approved. It was quite painless. Landmarks did require historically accurate details which made it more expensive than a normal window installation.
Do you have an engineer?
Thanks. The wall I’d like to put the window in is above the neighbor’s garden- no building facing it at all.
Do you know who I can call to visit the site to access the necessary work and paperwork?
Close is a relative term. You need exact distances from surrounding buildings to do this.
