Brick wall in Kitchen. Do I need backsplash?
I have exposed brick in the area I intend to use as a kitchen. I like it as the backdrop to my cabinets and appliances. I don’t want to break this look with tile for a backsplash (above sink and cooktop). Could this damage/stain the brick i.e. water from sink?

Truth is you may actually do more damage attempting to install top and bottom cabinets directly to the brick…especially if they are on the older side..
If you get past the cabinet mounting without issue..I would say that getting a decent water seal between your countertop and the brick will be difficult…
At best you may consider using a countertop with a small(short 4″ or so) backsplash..perhaps a continuation of whatever countertop you are using(i.e granite, corian, laminate)…but again, that all to important seal between counter and brick..may be tricky..
Also any contractor that says he will not damage bricks when mounting cabinets securely and directly to brick is probably misleading you and in the end will only do more irreversible damage…
Good luck..
