Does anyone have any recommendations of who to call to install 2 AC units in the window? I already bought the AC but I do not have brackets.

Thanks!

  1. installing an air conditioner, though not difficult, can be nerve-wracking.

a/c units are heavy and cumbersome, and i always fear mine may fall out the window and crush a passerby.

so, while there are many things i can handle around the house, i always have a handy friend install mine.

it’s okay, OP, just ask a friend or hire someone to do it. your peace of mind is way more valuable than the few bucks you’ll spend.

  2. Instead of using the thin accordion curtain that fills the gap in the window you should double up some 3/4″ plywood to make a mini sash and mount the AC into that. Joist brackets work well to attach the AC sleeve to the plywood.
Just remember to angle the sleeve slightly away from the house so it drains properly. Also remember to prime and paint the plywood.

  3. For some money is no object..so I say pay someone to do it…keeps handymen employed…

In the case of an AC unit..incorrect instillation can be dangerous for those below..

This perhaps not the best beginners DIY’s project..

  4. Man….read the directions….even my unhandy husband can install an air conditioner. Don’t be afraid…empower yourself and use the money you save to go out to dinner.

  5. I’m not a do-it-yourself-er either…
I had a handy friend install mine. It is really simple. Just think about of your friends who have power tools… an artist is a good bet. offer to cook or order in dinner. If you don’t feel like asking a friend, any handyman can do this, just might be little hard to find someone willing to do such a small job. I’d suggest looking on bulletin boards for small one-person operations.

  6. do it yourself or higher anybody who walks by your house to help you

i’m sure the store you bought the air conditioners at would be happy to send somebody for a hefty fee

it’s so easy to do yourself, why pay?

get a screw gun and drill one or screws through the air conditioner support bar on top of the air conditioner into the window frame — it’s easy
