Warning: B&H is NOT a Demolition Company
Learn from our mistake! There is a company called B&H (contacts: Robert and Avi) advertising on Craig’s List as an experienced demolition and moving company. They are inexpensive, and have great references–for *moving* jobs. They seem nice, they’re from Atlanta… …Whatever you do, DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE DO DEMOLITION IN YOUR HOUSE! I don’t…

I don’t want to bore you with the epic story of the last four days… the borrowing our tools because they did not bring their own, the spurting water, the whoops! do I smell a waste pipe draining into the basement? The near-mutiny. My husband and I working alongside these guys just to keep Robert’s total lack of managment skills from ruining us, leaving us with a big, unsorted mess of debris that took *days* to untangle.
Let’s just say I am completely convinced that these people have never done a demolition job before.
Ever.
OP here.
I actually don’t doubt that they are a good rubbish removal company–the reason we went with them is because they provided excellent references (I called back each one of them and found out that they were all moving and carting jobs). They are obviously expanding their business into demolition, and unfortunately they seem to think that demo and removal are much more similar than they actually are.
I just read the Woodworking rant, and want to make it clear that I posted this as a genuine warning because these guys are not actually scam artists. These guys are on the level in some ways–but they are misrepresenting themselves when it comes to demolition.
Can’t speak to their demo prowess, but I just used them to haul demo debris for me and they were spectacular. I’m going to post a recommendation in the forum!
B&H sells cameras. What would they know about demo?
Hmm, I’ve hired day laborers from craigs with so-so results. Wait, I actually did use a demolition company. They were ok. I wouldn’t say everyone is a scam artist, but they are not the cream of the crop.
Wait a minute, I know a lot of good honest people who are just starting out who have put ads on craigslist.
And I have hired a lot of good men with a van from craigslist.
Never. They are mostly all crooks and scammers on craigslist. Occassionally, you might find someone who is actually good, and just starting out; but mostly it’s crooks.

Actually, I have. Once.
Has anyone ever had a good experience hiring someone off of craig’s list?
