I plan on renovating my bathroom. The plan is to split a larger full bathroom into 2 small full bathrooms. We would not be moving any walls, but would construct a wall to divide the 2 bathrooms. There would need to be plumbing for 2 sinks, tub, shower stall and 2 toilets. Since we are creating an extra bathroom do we need a C of O? We are in a house in the Bronx with no boards or associations to run things past.

A new C of O is not necessary. A simple filing of an Alteration Type II(PL, OT) would do for your work. Those are fixtures and changes for your schedule B and basic partition work. Nothing major. Once completed an issuance of a Letter of Completion would deem the work to be complete and to up to par with the building code.

Isn’t a CO to change a commercial building to residential?
Certificate of occupancy for a bathroom? Legally we probably should have that for my husband.
Nope. You need a permit, but not a revised CO. If it’s a single family, you could do it without a permit, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
