Has anyone heard of such or similar scheme that is fraudulent? The e-mails are sketchy and we are worried to give any information away.
it’s a scam. if i put ANYTHING for sale in the classifieds on-line, i always get an offer to purchase it. but, oh, that person is in London, so could you ship it to London?
ship my car??
just ignore the emails.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
And I bet the part of ‘Europe’ they’re in is NIGERIA.
This also happened to me, I decided to just not respond to their emails, and I guess they moved on to the next victim.
yeah a scam, they’ll won’t be able to “clean your account out” no matter what info you give them but there will be a fraudulent bank check for over what you want, and they’ll beg for the difference back from you. By the time the bank gets back to you, weeks later (they initially accept the check) you are screwed and they are gone.
The local DA has no interest or ability to “track these people down”, they are basically less likely to be brought to justice than you are over that parking meter you over-stayed at four years ago.
It is a scam – contact your District Attorney’s Office – they are trying to track these people down.
I agree that it’s a scam and have encountered the same response when I post my rental apt. on craigslist. I think the next step would be the fraudulent buyer’s requesting your bank account information so that they could allegedly make an electronic transfer of the “deposit” into your account from overseas. In fact, they would seek to clean you out! Don’t respond to them anymore.
Yes, I think it’s a scam. I get the same emails when I post an ad for my rental on Craigs List. Be sure to meet the buyer before you trade any information. It’s strange to me that they would be in such a rush to by just from an ad. I’m pretty sure its bullshit.
