Does anyone know of a place that will electroplate old door hardware? I have a bunch that was originally brass-plated, but is quite worn through now. I’d love to get it plated again. If I don’t, I have to battle RUST!

  1. Hi all – If your in the UK or Europe I found a company that run a restoration and replating service for door hardware and Bath/Kitchen Fittings.

I had some door hardware redone in nickel plating – they came out better than i expected in fact i would almost say better than when they were new.

They collect and deliver – very reasonable rates!

Wow, that Al-Bar link is great. And it’s about 50 yards from my mother’s house. Weird. How much do they charge, ballpark?

Yes, the hardware is defnitely plated. When I polished them, you can see both steel and brass bits.

But a place to polish un-plated hardware is also great.

  3. You could try one of the newer brush plating kits. Just make sure you get one safe for amatures: traditionally electroplating with brass requires cyanide but the new brush kits should avoid this.
