replating hardware?
Does anyone know of a place that will electroplate old door hardware? I have a bunch that was originally brass-plated, but is quite worn through now. I’d love to get it plated again. If I don’t, I have to battle RUST!

I had some door hardware redone in nickel plating – they came out better than i expected in fact i would almost say better than when they were new.
They collect and deliver – very reasonable rates!

Wow, that Al-Bar link is great. And it’s about 50 yards from my mother’s house. Weird. How much do they charge, ballpark?
Yes, the hardware is defnitely plated. When I polished them, you can see both steel and brass bits.
But a place to polish un-plated hardware is also great.
You could try one of the newer brush plating kits. Just make sure you get one safe for amatures: traditionally electroplating with brass requires cyanide but the new brush kits should avoid this.
You can try Al-Bar plating. The web site is

You just have to pack up your hardware and send it to them. They then call you with a quoute. Very reasonable in my experience.
Are you sure they are plated? Old hardware is usually solid brass. Hold a magnet up to it, if it sticks – it is plated. Platers usually have a minimum run price of $250 – $300. If it is solid call mark at
